The best way to pass through airport security with ease and without experiencing any complications or delays is by knowing all airport security rules and restrictions.  Although you will want to use your best judgment, you will also want to take the time to visits the website for the TSA, which is located at www.tsa.gov.  There, you will find all that you need to know about airport security rules and restrictions, such as prohibited items, as well as tips to help you.

As for making it through airport security with ease, there are many professionals who recommend purchasing your airline tickets well in advance of your trip.  Apparently, you are less likely to be stopped and fully screened by airport security when doing so.  For many, last minute travelers send off signals or red flags.  Even if this is untrue, there is still no harm that can come from booking your airline reservations in advance.

Next, it is important to make sure that you are carrying proper identification with you.  Most airline workers, especially those at the ticket counter, will ask to see a form of identification.  For adults, this identification needs to include a picture.  State identification cards or driver’s licenses are ideal.  For domestic travel, children can often get away without showing identification.

Before you leave for the airport, go through your luggage one more time.  This is particularly a good idea with your carry-on luggage.  Do you see anything that looks out of the ordinary?  If you do, you may want to leave that item at home or else pack it in a checked bag.  Anything that looks suspicious, even though it may not be, may hold you up at airport security, resulting in unnecessary delays.

All air travelers, including children, are required to remove their shoes before walking through the metal detectors.  For that reason, you will want to remove your shoes ahead of time.  You will need to do so anyways, so get started earlier, which can help to keep the security line moving along in a timely fashion.  Also, be sure to wear comfortable and easy to remove shoes.

In addition to shoes, all air travelers are required to remove certain clothing pieces, such as belts, jackets, and possibly even bulky sweatshirts.  For that reason, you will want to come to the airport dressed simple, yet comfortably.  You will want to remove these items ahead of time and have them ready to place in a security bin.

Also, make sure that when you pack your carry-on luggage that you have all liquids in a separate bag.  In fact, the TSA has a 3-1-1 policy that they follow.  This policy states that small liquid containers, like those for liquid makeup or contact lens solution, must be three ounces in size or smaller.  Each person must put all liquids in a one quart ziplock bag and one bag is permitted for each person.

If you are traveling with young children, you will want to take steps to prepare your child for the airport security process.  Make sure they are wearing comfortable and easy to remove shoes and jackets, as they will still need to be removed.  If your child can walk, they will need to go through the airport metal detectors themselves, so be sure to talk about doing so with your child.  In fact, you may want to arrive at the airport a few minutes early so that your child can see others going through airport security with ease.

Now go enjoy your vacation!

One of the first things that you will want to do, when looking to plan a family vacation, is to make your airline reservations early. You will likely be better off when doing so, for a number of different reasons.  Perhaps, the greatest reason is the comfort and peace of mind that you may get from knowing that all of your travel arrangements are made and out of the way.

As for packing for your flight, you will want to make sure that your children’s bag are packed and properly.  Not only will you want to make sure that they have all needed supplies for your vacation, but you will also want to make sure that they have items for the airplane ride as well. Each person gets to have one carry-on bag.  You will want to make sure that each of your kids have one.

Speaking of carry-on bags for your children, be sure to fill them will fun activities for the plane ride.  What you will choose will all depend on your child’s age.  For example, younger children may benefit from books and a few small toys.  For older children, portable DVD players, handheld video games, toys, and magazines are a great idea.

You will also want to make sure that you have extra snacks on hand and in your carry-on bags.  This is important, as you don’t want to have to spend too much money at the airport.  It can get costly to feed a whole family, even just with snacks.  For that same reason, try to have everyone eat a full meal before you leave for the airport.  This step combined with snacks can help to reduce hunger, possibly resulting in shared meals during airport layovers, which can also help you save money.

As for drinks, do not bring any with you to the airport, unless you have a newborn or an infant.  If you have a baby, bring one prepared bottle of formula, but make sure to have some dry formula powder with you to prepare during a layover.  Drinks, with the exception of drinks for kids, are not allowed past airport security checkpoints and they will have to be thrown away.  When buying drinks at an airport store, past security, look for items that are reasonably priced or see if some family members, like you and your spouse, can share a drink.

As for when you arrive at the airport, be sure to stay together.  Also, be sure to set ground rules with your children.  These rules should include sticking together, not speaking to strangers, and so forth.  In fact, you will want to help each other out.  For example, if you have an older child, like a teenager, let them help you with finding the right gate, carrying bags, or keeping any younger children occupied.  Your trip will likely be much less stressful when everyone works together.

So, to lessen the stress that is brought upon by the thought of leaving impending work and schedule for a vacation, here are some useful packing tips for you. To make packing for an adventure vacation a hassle free task, gather all the things that plan to bring and segregate them from “what to bring” side and “what not to bring” side. By doing this, you can have your elimination process easier and more efficient.

WHAT TO PACK

– Pieces of clothing. This is considered as the most crucial part of packing that is why many people are having hard time in it. When packing clothes for an adventure vacation, always bear in mind that you need to bring only those that you can use. To do this, finalize the type of adventure vacation that you are going to.

Consider the destination and the climate of the place in order to determine what are the clothes that you need during you stay. If you are going to a place that includes visit to beaches and other nature trips, bring clothes that are light and made of cotton because the weather can be hot and humid. If you are going to a vacation destination that has a cold weather, make sure that you bring jacket or other pieces of clothing that can protect your body.

In choosing what clothes to bring, always come up with one specific color theme so you won’t have to bring lots of items just to match your clothes. Also, choose clothes that have fabrics that don’t easily get crumpled or wrinkled. (TIP: For vacation destinations, it is best to use thermal underwear so you can save space instead of bringing heavy jackets and coats. For places that have tropical climate, opt for clothes that can be layered and can serve double purpose such as a sarong.)

When it comes to footwear, it is advisable to bring just two pairs—one pair of closed shoes and a pair of flip flops. If you are going to a vacation cruise, always bring pieces of clothing for formal and casual occasion.

– An alarm. This is very important especially if you are heading for a destination that have time difference. It is also best to bring a travel alarm so you won’t have to miss out on something just because you run late. (TIP: Bring a gadget that can double as an alarm clock such as cellular phones, PSPs, and other handheld devices.)

– Medication. Medication, especially if prescribed, should be given proper attention. If you are using prescription medicines, make sure that you bring enough amounts to ensure your well being during the trip. If you are travelling abroad, copy of the prescription is required to ensure that you are not bringing in illegal drugs. If you are not taking any prescription medicines, always bring a first aid kit.

– Toiletries. Shampoos, lotions, liquid soaps, and other toiletries are usually available at the hotel but if you prefer your own brand, make sure that you place them in small bottles and keep them into a minimum. (TIP: Always put toiletries in zip locks so they won’t affect other items in case they leak due to air pressure.)

– Cash and credit cards. If you prefer to bring cash, keep them to a minimum to avoid hassle in safety. During an adventure vacation, it is always best to bring international credit cards for your paying needs.

(TIP: Bring two just in case the ATM eats one, gets broken or lost.)
